Assign to agent or team
Hand over a conversation when another allowed person, team or AI agent should continue.
Use a test channel or sample conversation first. Confirm the visible result in ValueChat before applying the setup to production traffic.
How it works
- 01
When to use
When to use. Define the exact customer request or situation that needs a handoff, such as a billing problem or a request for human help.
- 02
Set up permissions
Set up permissions. In Skills, add Assignment and select the permitted targets. Use @ in the instruction editor to choose an actual target, instead of typing an unlinked name.
- 03
Example instruction
Example instruction. If the customer asks to speak to a person, assign to @Support Team. Insert Support Team from the mention picker and choose it in allowed targets.
- 04
Customer context
Customer context. Type $ and select an allowed contact value if the decision needs saved customer information. Enable and select that field in Update contact fields first.
- 05
What happens
What happens. A successful action changes the conversation owner in ValueChat. Configure the handoff message separately; do not promise an assignment before the action succeeds.
- 06
Limitations
Limitations. This skill transfers ownership immediately. It does not schedule a future handoff or add new routing methods by wording alone. Test the allowed target and review the action result.
What to verify
✓The expected channel, conversation, contact or execution is visible.
✓The assigned person or agent matches the routing rule.
✓No customer-facing message claims an action that failed.
✓Activity or execution history contains enough context to investigate.
Collect the workspace, channel, conversation and execution identifiers, then contact support@valuechat.app. Never send API keys or passwords.
